Wotton House Wedding Photography Surrey. The wedding day of Katie and Ryan at Wotton House, Dorking in Surrey.
Wotton House won Best Country Venue of 2016 at The UK Wedding Awards. It’s easy to see why! This is one of those wedding venues that really lends itself to great wedding photography. Due to plenty of different locations and niches for some lovely wedding photos with lots of character and colour. Found both inside the main building and in the gardens and grounds. Boasting 17th-century architecture, Roman-style temples, ponds, a stream, grottos, and 13 acres of beautiful gardens. Certainly, enough for the adventurous wedding photographer to choose from when taking the pictures for your wedding day!
The brief for today’s wedding was to capture “lots of happy smiling people”. That proved very easy since there were plenty of happy smiley people at this wedding – particularly the bride who was just that – all day!

The ceremony
The wedding ceremony was held in the old library. A gorgeous room brimming with original features including vaulted ceilings. The clever use of coloured up-lighters adds a further element of depth to the pictures of the wedding ceremony…

Meanwhile, outside in the grounds, our groom and groomsmen took to high ground to finalise last minute plans immediately before the wedding ceremony took place. And perhaps a little tot for luck. 🙂

…back inside, our groom waits patiently: time for the wedding ceremony to begin…

After a lovely ceremony, time to head outside into the sunshine for drinks, nibbles and some wedding photos.

Just one of the features lending themselves to great wedding photos at Wotton House is the temple area. Here you can take advantage of some lovely soft light, just a few paces away from the beating sunshine.

Back inside again, and it was time for the wedding breakfast and speeches. Because everyone is concentrating on enjoying themselves and the speeches, it’s a great time for us to take really natural informal pictures. It’s at this time we get true “reportage wedding photography style” images..jpg)

And after the speeches were finished, the wedding party headed back outside for a nice relaxed evening before the dancing started a little later. We stayed to capture some more natural, relaxed wedding pictures (along with some riotous dancing) before heading home for a nice glass of wine or two for ourselves..jpg)
