Today I’d like to introduce you to a special little girl called Millie, who came to have her portraits taken a couple of weeks ago and turned out to be an absolute delight to photograph. Why special? Well, apart from being the prettiest little thing, Millie is also super-sweet and just happens to be my niece. She also turned out to be a fantastic model: very patient, easy to instruct, and eager to get some great photos!
Starting our photo session in the studio, we opted for a simple background so we could concentrate on Millie and nothing else, using a mixture of both studio lighting and available light for different effects… then once we’d got a good set of photos in the bag, we headed off just down the road towards Addington where I’d spotted a small patch of wildflowers right by the edge of the road a few days before. I knew Millie would look as pretty as a picture among the flowers, so pausing only to steal a suitably floppy summer hat from Karen’s wardrobe on the way out, we set off to take a few on location photos!

Isn’t she gorgeous? I just absolutely love the simplicity of the next photo here…

Let’s not forget our indoor photos too – for this picture I wanted to emphasise Millie’s lovely smile, and the soft natural lighting works perfectly for this to create a super soft natural portrait…

…and for the next couple of photos we used our full studio lighting set-up for a clean, contemporary look to our portraits:

Back outside again, and this time we’ve moved to the local park for a few nice informal portraits with Dad, Chris…

…and finally I just had to finish with another photo from our little session among the poppies and wild flowers. Who wouldn’t want a huge print or canvas of their child hanging on the wall and looking like this?

I could go on all day, we got so many photos I loved. Well done Millie, you were a fantastic model… and apologies once again for totally and completely cremating your chicken burger in our microwave by accident!!!
All the best for now then,
Rob.

Gotta say Millie totally loved the day (even the cremation of her dinner by Uncle Rob)
Pictures have come out superbly ( as have all the others i have seen )
Millie was in her element and considering we hardly get to meet up you were great with Millie and all that helped to encapture the shots you obviously already had in your mind that you wanted
The outside shots again were great and considering we were sat between the railway line and the busy main road with people constantly going past ( and me falling over ) you managed to make it look like we were nowhere near where we were…if you see what i mean lol
So a great big THANKS to you Rob
(Pictures must be great because as you have gathered Rob is my brother and we DONT do praise unless it is well deserved… and even then begrudgingly lol…. So they must be excellent if i was impressed by the whole day, from the pictures, inspiration, professionalism to the end result of Millie’s tired smile and wishes now to be a model!!! Cheers for the Rob…grr
