Malaysian pre-wedding photography in London

Hi all,

Fresh back from our week away, today I’d like to introduce you to Allan and Su who asked me to shoot their pre-wedding photos in and around London just before Karen and I skipped the country for our week of sunshine with the kids.  Allan and Su are Malaysian-Chinese and will be tying the knot very soon, back in Malaysia – but wanted their pre-wedding photos taken in the London area… “but we don’t really like crowds” said Su… hmm, this might be a challenge – a pre-wedding photo shoot in London, but no crowds… let’s see what we can do then…! 🙂

As things turned out, Allan and Su were a joy to work with – always with a ready smile and happy to try anything we asked.  This was a little unusual for a London shoot for us, because we didn’t concentrate on the more traditional iconic London sites, but simply used the various locations we visited as our backdrops for some lovely personal and romantic couple photos instead.  Starting our shoot in Richmond Park, we then took in various locations including Little Venice, South Kensington and even Paddington Station – but always concentrating on our couple as the ‘focus’ of our pictures.

So let’s take a look-see then!

As you can see, Su looked gorgeous in her wedding gown and Allan looked the perfect gent in his tuxedo.  We spent a couple of hours in Richmond Park and in between getting moved on by various authorities (what is it about taking photos that seems to offend authorities in and around London so much?) we got some lovely intimate pictures of our couple.

Once finished in the park, we stopped off for lunch and a quick change out of the wedding attire and into more casual informal clothing, which suited the rest of the shoot perfectly.  Here’s a shot taken during a very pleasant stroll around Little Venice.  I love the really soft romantic feel of this one…

It’s always nice to mix things up a bit, both by changing lenses for a different perspective, or looking for some intersting natural lighting effects:

A nice, simple environmental portrait of Su

A little off-camera flash helps with the next shot to emphasise the shapes of arches, and to gently highlight our couple…

Quick shot taking in Paddington station – I love to include a little movement when possible. Had to take it quickly though, for fear of being moved on (again)!

Colours: I love playing with colours.

So there you are… a great mixture of some soft romantic couple photos, some lovely simple environmental pictures, and a good helping of playful fun photography in there too.  Allan and Su – thank you so much for asking us to take your pre wedding pictures, both Karen and I really enjoyed working with you.  Oh, and I really ought to also thank Karen, who assisted with lenses, flashes and poses throughout the day (and I’m not even going to mention the dropping of a very expensive flash whilst still attached to pocketwizard, immediately after we finished our shoot.  Nope… I’m not going to mention that at all). 😉
