Some more commercial photography for you again today – and a little culture for you. 🙂
Artist Yuliya Martynova contacted me recently to ask if I could reproduce a series of original artworks for her in digital format so they can be made available for worldwide print sales.

For this project, colour rendition and exposure accuracy are absolutely critical… so it was essential to light each piece completely evenly, avoid any and all reflections from the oil paintings, and to make sure our colour balance was made absolutely neutral to ensure our copies were accurate replicas of the original paintings. Fortunately, we have some rather super-duper equipment that allows us to do just that – including top of the range studio lighting (extremely accurate and consistent in terms of both exposure and colour balance) and fully hardware calibrated computer monitors – so we could be sure to do the job properly:

With pieces ranging from A4 right up to around 5ft in size, along with a mixture of stretched canvas and loose images, this was always going to be a technically interesting shoot… but the commission also gave me the opportunity to have a really good look at Yuliya’s work, and I have to say she has some beautiful pieces, and a fantastic eye for colour too.
