Slotting a few pet photography sessions between weddings, I seem to have had a run of very fast, highly excitable dogs to photograph recently. Dave is a staffordshire bull terrier puppy, just about 5 months old and… mad as a hatter! Tyler brought Dave to see me so we could take some photos as a birthday present for her boyfriend, and what followed was one of the funniest pet photography sessions I’ve done to date:
Q: What exactly is the best course of action if a photographer should attempt to point a camera at you?
A: Run away from him. Immediately.
Q: And if said photographer is stupid enough to lay on the ground for a better viewpoint?
A: Charge him. Immediately. Repeatedly…
Q: Suggest the most appropriate response to the common command of “sit”.
A: Move. Stand. Run. Charge. Run. Charge. Run. Move. FASTER!
Actually Dave was a riot to photograph – although he was definitely a challenge. Tyler was also great fun to work with and somehow we managed to get some great pictures of Dave which I hope show his undoubted character well. Here’s a (very rare) picture of Dave in the split second before he “left the stage” during the studio part of our photo session:
