Time for something completely different today. We’re often asked to take a few simple headshots for musicians and actors, as well as for businessmen.  We also receive a steady stream of requests for commercial photography in Sussex and the surrounding counties. Every now and then, we’ll find ourselves covering a job that envelopes multiple photographic categories.  Today’s photos are from just such a job!

Musician Johan contacted us to initially ask for some headshots.  After discussing his requirements, it became clear that this was going to be a little more involved than just a ‘standard headshot’ assignment. Multi-talented Johan plays a wealth of different musical instruments.  As well as producing top quality sounds from his own purpose-built recording studio. On entering the studio, I found myself immediately and irrevocably jealous of his rather superb guitar collection.  Subsequently, I became even more impressed the more I learned about Johan and his music.  He played, produced and sang his way throughout the shoot.

Johan wanted something a little more ‘edgy’ than just a standard headshot.  Therefore, we took a number of images inside the studio.  These were both static and working as Johan demonstrated his talents both musical and technical. Technically, this was a somewhat tricky shoot to complete.  Those coloured display lights may look fantastic – but bright, they are not!  Overall, this was certainly a fun shoot to photograph.  We made the most of both the space we had and were able to achieve an ambient mood.
