I have to be honest… I wasn’t looking forward to this pre wedding shoot. Scheduled for a Saturday, Eddy called me on the Friday to talk about the weather. I looked outside and the heavens opened. Rain? Cats and dogs is the phrase that came to mind! Eddy and Hang’s pre wedding shoot was to be held in the grounds of Osborne House – an English Heritage site on the Isle of Wight – which meant an hour and a half drive first thing in the morning before jumping aboard the fastcat to get across the island – and I didn’t relish the idea of driving through a rainstorm to spend the rest of the day enduring the worst that the weather could throw at us. Call me a softie if you will, but hey that’s me. We decided to postpone the final decision until first thing in the morning… so off to bed I went with the incessant sound of rain drumming rhythmically overhead as I finally fell to slumber…
Morning.
No rain! A quick look out the window and to my surprise the past two days of rain had finally ceased. A text from Eddy… we’re going ahead. Fingers crossed, I throw my kit in the car and off I go. And what followed… was one of the most entertaining days I’ve had in a long time!

Sometimes we just get lucky. Eddy and Hang are just a fantastic couple to work with. Eddy is super-chilled out, Hang is both beautiful and elegant, and as a couple they are clearly very much in love: add a location sporting a range of interesting features in which to place our couple, and we have a perfect recipe for an amazing pre wedding photo shoot.

We had a lot of laughs throughout the day of the shoot, and as you can see the weather stayed on-side too. Here’s a shot of Eddy and Hang goofing around as we stopped for a quick break at lunchtime right after I’d got a particularly pleasing shot of Hang sporting a rather fetching milk moustache!

Did I say this couple is in love? I absolutely love this picture… I love high key photos, and I love the romance. Love it.

Another romantic picture for you. I’d love to say the next shot was as romantic as things look – but I can’t quite clear the vision I have in my head of Kevin standing just out of shot, fully bracing himself against the wind trying to hold our reflector steady, and the reflector being blown like a sail right into his face. Ever seen a face embedded firmly into a Lastolite reflector? It’s not pretty… but it is very funny! And our couple? Still lost in a little world of their own. Aaah…

So… after spending a good few hours in the grounds of Osborne house, the rains finally caught up with us. We took shelter in the house itself, but since they won’t allow photography inside we then headed off to Ryde to take a few more photos, at the seaside. See below, I told you… “Eddy loves Hang”. Apologies for the awful writing, but Eddy is a doctor. Have you ever tried to actually read a prescription? And as for Hang’s spelling…. well I’ll say no more on either subject… 😉

So there you are… our fears for a washout were unfounded, and we enjoyed a great day’s photography and fun. Eddy and Hang were a joy to work with and we have a whole heap of photos for them to enjoy. Thanks for being such a fun couple guys, I’ll be in touch again very soon!
Rob.
