Free Composite cards (Z-cards) design service

From the initial taking of the photographs, we can supply a full service up to and including the design and printing of composite cards for you to distribute as required. Comp cards, or Z-cards as they are sometimes known show a small selection of images along with your name and a few brief details about you. We are happy to include a free design service for batches of between 100 and 1000 comp cards.

Home or studio, your place or mine...

Your headshots will be taken in a studio environment, typically with a plain unobtrusive white, grey or black backdrop. Our professional studio lighting and setup is completely portable so if you can't come to me I am happy to travel to your home to take your headshots for you there. Home visits may be subject to additional travelling expenses

Black and White head shots, Colour head shots

The choice is yours: opt for either traditional black and white headshots, or choose full colour for extra impact. All pictures are taken digitally in full colour and you will be offered both black and white and colour versions of all your pictures to choose from.

What you should know: Advice and Information

Like you, I want your headshots to be the best they can be. With this in mind, here's a couple of things you should know;

Quality first!

We don't give you your images at the end of the session. I operate a quality service - not a 'take your money and run' operation. Every experienced photographer knows that every pictures benefit from at least some small cropping, sharpening or adjustments to ensure that you receive the very best images possible - such is the nature of portrait photography. Do you want your DVD to include your "blink" shots that inevitably happen during an hour of shooting? Strange crops, funny expressions? Less than perfect focus? These things do happen - and of course you don't want that (and neither do we). We will give you your DVD only after being fully edited and proofed to the standards you should expect.

We could shoot and burn, and let you walk away with everything untouched - but we choose not to operate in that way. Every DVD comes in it's own quality case and each disc face is uniquely laser imprinted (not just a label slapped on) especially for you. Think quality - not rush-job. DVDs are typically ready within a week or less.

Clothing: We advise that you bring at least two changes of tops, one dark (but not black) and one light. Avoid crazy logos or patterns - we want the focus of our headshots to be about you not your clothing. Feel free to bring along a few accessories if you wish. Depending on your own needs, you may want to bring along a selection from smart to casual.

Make-up: Your director wants to see you not just your make-up. If you usually wear make-up then by all means do so - but keep in mind that a director or casting agent may be looking for a face he/she can 'mould' to a particular purpose, so they need to see the real 'you' underneath.

Finally - be prepared to have a little fun. I don't operate in a stuffy formal way. It's quite normal to expect to take a little time to relax. Come in and have a cup of tea! Feel free to chat away, we'll put on some music or whatever else you need to feel at home - and by the end of the session we will have some great headshots in the bag for you!

Headshot pricing from just £50

All headshot sessions include the following

1. Option one: Headshots based in my home: £50/hour
   For the most economical heashots option, I am able to use my own home (South Croydon) as a small studio. All equipment will be setup before your arrival, so there is no time loss to you for waiting for equipment setup. Although space is limited, this is usually perfect for classic headshots.
2. Option two: Headshots based in your home: £50/hour + travelling expenses where applicable
   If you prefer, you can have your headshot taken in the familiar surroundings of your own home taking advantage of our fully portable studio equipment. Clients choosing this option should allow up to 30 minutes for equipment to be setup and taken down before and after your shoot. Please note: we will require a clear area of 7 feet square minimum in order to setup our background equipment if you require studio style backgrounds (plain white etc) for your photos.
3. Option three: On location: £50/hour + travelling expenses where applicable
   Headshots taken at the location of your choice. This can be indoors or out, and is ideal for natural relaxed photographs of people who prefer not to have the ‘studio’ look. No setup time is usually required – just a location and a smile.

Weekend shooting:

Most headshots are taken during weekdays, and usually take no more than an hour (or less) to complete. Weekend shoots can be arranged if necessary, charged at £65/hour

Retouching service £25

Take a great headshot to the extreme! Nobody is perfect - we all have our fair share of lumps and bumps and minor imperfections we'd rather not show off. If you wake up on the morning of your designated shoot with the "mother of all spots" on the end of your hooter don't worry - you'll be amazed at what's possible with a little computer enhanced magic. Don't fool yourself into thinking any of those 'perfect skin' models you see on the covers of your favourite magazines don't have exactly the same treatment added for every shot! Full treatment of an image is just £25 each. We'll show you the before and after, and if you don't agree that the extra work is worth the premium - you don't buy it. Simple as that, no obligation.
