A pictorial review of the London Golf Club as a wedding venue from the perspective of a professional wedding photographer

The London golf club is actually located a little outside of London in Ash, near Brands Hatch racing circuit in Kent – right in the middle of around 700 acres of land making up two championship golf courses. The entrance is a mile long driveway leading to the clubhouse, fronted by a fountain and a large covered porch-way. As you step inside you’ll enter “The Great Hall” complete with impressive oak beams, some lovely dark panelling and a grand fireplace at one end. Although big enough to hold a good sized group, the grand hall still maintains a warm and cosy atmosphere with leather upholstered seating making this a great place for some intimate or fun wedding photos of a bride and groom later on during the wedding reception.

The venue is licensed for civil wedding ceremonies and these are conducted in either the Heritage Suite or the International Suite, whilst the wedding breakfast will be set in the Banqueting Room.

Since the grounds of the London Golf Club are so picturesque, this makes a perfect backdrop for some stunning wedding photography and it only takes a few steps out onto the grass to put our newlyweds right in the picture – particularly since one of the lakes is so close to the clubhouse and makes a gorgeous background for a wedding photo! One little tip: the golf course also makes a great setting for a beautiful evening picture as the sun sets over the golf course, so if you like great photography be sure to keep your eye on the sun as the evening draws in!

Next up comes the “Long bar” – and as it’s name suggests this is indeed a long bar area, with the actual bar itself situated towards one end and plenty of room for friends and family to sip champagne, nibble on canapés and chat about the wedding. At the far end is a seated area and tables are dotted along the length of the bar which also leads on to the terrace and patio areas outside. From here you can enjoy a lovely view across the golf course, and ladies will be pleased to know there is enough hard-standing for your photographer to take any formal group photos as well as those informal candid shots complete with a beautiful background – without your guests getting their feet wet if it’s been raining!

Let’s show you a few photos of the banqueting hall now – big enough to seat 130+ wedding guests, air conditioning, and views across the golf course…

If you’re looking for some atmospheric or arty wedding pictures, the Grand Hall is a great place to head. For a winter wedding or Christmas wedding the room has a lovely warm feel to it that can be full of atmosphere – so assuming your photographer has a good knowledge of working with low ambient lighting levels, you should be sure to get some great pictures for your wedding album.

One last photo – a quick look at the clubhouse from front, at night…

To summarise our review I’d say the London Golf Club offers a good deal of features for a great wedding day: great views outside, plenty of space inside, a mixture of clean modern spaces and some nice warm ambient touches too. Assuming the Kent location is right for you, this is definitely a wedding venue I’d recommend as worthy of further investigation.
