The Conservatory at Painshill Park wedding photography review by a professional Surrey wedding photographer
The Conservatory at Painshill Park is located in Cobham, Surrey, close to both the A3 and the M25 – and with facilities to host weddings of up to 320 guests in the permanent marquee, is popular for both English and Asian weddings. For the main part, your wedding ceremony and/or reception will be held within the grounds of the walled garden which houses the marquee. A well kept garden area is surrounded on all sides by shrubs and a gravel path, with a high brick wall to separate your private function from the public who may be visiting Painshill Park for the main grounds themselves. Outside the front of the marquee is an area of hard decking leading in to the entrance of the marquee itself, which in turn leads in further to the main wedding/reception area.
Once inside the marquee there is ample room for even the largest weddings, and the venue is experienced in hosting Asian Hindu weddings – traditionally a large affair with a large number of guests – in addition to English weddings of course.
Once the ceremony is completed, the reception area can be laid for your weddding breakfast – top notch lighting is employed throughout the marquee including ceiling mounted spotlights ideal for lighting an Indian Mandap, and very cute little twinkle “star” lights set into the ceiling itself adding to the atmosphere during your meal and for any dancing later in the evening. In addition to this, a full public address and entertainment system is available for music and announcements should you need it.
As a wedding photographer, one of the nicest things about Painshill Park for me is the huge expanse of grounds available for photography once the bride and groom have completed the actual wedding ceremony. With 160 acres of Hamilton Landscape on hand, complete with many different features brought together from all over the world, this is a great place for some creative wedding photography. One popular option for newlyweds is a short trip on the venue’s golf buggy which will take you directly to a few of the more accesible features such as the Temple, Old ruins, and Chinese bridge. All of these, in addition to the scenic lakes, vineyard, and other features allow us to take some great wedding photos that will make your wedding album the talk of the town!
In summary, I’d say if you’re looking for a wedding venue capable of playing host to a large wedding with ease, with easy access from London and the South then the conservatory at Painshill Park is well worth looking into. The grounds are fantastic (and well worth a visit anyway) with lots of opportunities for great photography on your wedding day – assuming you can set aside some time to make use of them. The walled garden will keep your guests together nicely and is a nice area for drinks and snacks in the sunshine assuming the weather is good – although from a photographer’s point of view, a good sized tree would also add some welcome shade i this area when the sun is overhead.
