Petition to allow ceremony photographs

In the UK as things stand right now, there seems to be a (largely irrational) obsession by some officials who dictate that no photographs will be taken during the course of a civil ceremony whatsoever.

Whilst we, as photographers understand and applaud the thought that a wedding ceremony should not be turned into a photographic circus, many of us feel that this is taking things too far. Any professional worth his or her salt should be perfectly capable of taking a few discreet photographs during a ceremony without disrupting the events of the day with machine gun bursts of pictures, or blinding everybody with their flash!

With this in mind, a petition has been raised with No10 Downing Street proposing that photography during civil ceremonies should be allowed throughout the country, and not on the whim of the local presiding officiates.
