Or… How to make something out of nothing – with the help of a fantastic couple![]()
Today I’d like to introduce you to Lanning and Jamie, due to be married next month at the very atmospheric Langshott Manor.
We’d organised a pre wedding shoot for Lanning and Jamie a while ago but with one eye on the weather things had been a little unsure until very recently. After the ravages of the recent snow, rain and general wintery weather I was left wondering just where we could go to do our shoot – everything seems so very dull and drab at this time of year!
So with this in mind, we decided that our shoot was going to need to “make a bit of magic out of nothing” as far as locations are concerned – which meant we’d need a game, fun loving couple, an eye for colour and texture… and a little creative imagination. How lucky I was that both Lanning and Jamie turned out to be such a fun couple to photograph!
So let’s take a look at some pictures then. Pretty backgrounds? Nah – let’s find some of that texture we were talking about…

A plain old alley just a few steps from home, just shows there are great locations and textures all around us
Pretty cool? I like that one. Let’s have a look at another.

These guys are lovely couple who clearly think the world of each other...
Here’s another shot taken in the alley – with a bit of post-processing added for more warmth and atmosphere…

A two minute walk takes us into the little park next-door. We got some great pictures there, and the guys did an absolutely sterling job of giving me the poses I asked for, while at the same time ignoring the attentions of a local football team playing right next to us!

Now here’s one of my favourites. I love this next one for so many reasons – the colour and texture of the shed along with the fab posing by Lanning, combined with the movement and perfectly timed backwards glance by Jamie make what I think is a really cool shot…

Who's that girl...?
…and what do parks have? Playgrounds! Oh, I love not being too grown up. A quick clamber up a climbing frame gets me a different point of view to photograph the guys from…

Although greenery is pretty scarce right now we still managed to find a little bit of foliage to make an interesting foreground for a few shots.

…and now for something a little different. Our final picture for now just shows us what a fun couple we have here!![]()

If you suffer from a bad back... don't try this at home!
We got lots more that I really like, but that’s your lot for now… and I can’t wait for the wedding day!
Don’t forget to leave your comments at the bottom of the post, we love to get your feedback.
All the best for now,
Rob.
